June 1940: as German troops marched into Paris, Jacques Jaujard and Count Franziskus Wolff Metternich worked together to protect and preserve the treasures of the Louvre Museum. At the very heart of one of the most devastating conflicts the world has ever known, Russian master filmmaker Alexander Sokurov (Russian Ark) dramatizes their story, asking what art tells us about ourselves as he explores the relationship between art, culture and power. This film had its North American Premiere at TIFF 2015.
