SUMMARY:Skate Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:Skate Kitchen\nWritten and Directed by: Crystal Moselle\nCast: Rachelle Vinberg\, Nina Moran\, Dede Lovelace\, Kabrina Adams and Jaden Smith\nDrama | 100 min. | 14A for coarse language\, sexual content\, and substance abuse | Not suggested for sensitive or young viewers | USA \n  \nSCREENING:\nSaturday\, October 13 – 1:30 pm\n \nClick here to buy tickets! \n  \n“Moselle believes in the power of girls. The friendships through which Camille learns how to be loved become the anguish that breaks her heart and the forgiveness that humbly heals her.” – Carly Lewis\, GLOBE AND MAIL \n“A touching ode to the rewards and challenges of female friendship…” – Justin Chang\, LOS ANGELES TIMES \n  \nCamille\, an introverted teenage skateboarder (newcomer\, Rachelle Vinberg) from Long Island\, meets and befriends an all-girl\, New York City-based skateboarding crew called Skate Kitchen. She falls in with the in-crowd\, has a falling-out with her mother\, and falls for a mysterious skateboarder guy (Jaden Smith)\, but a relationship with him proves to be trickier to navigate than a kick flip. Writer/director Crystal Moselle immersed herself in the lives of the skater girls and worked closely with them\, resulting in the film’s authenticity\, which combines poetic\, atmospheric filmmaking and hypnotic skating sequences. Skate Kitchen precisely captures the experience of women in male-dominated spaces and tells a story of a girl who learns the importance of camaraderie and self-discovery. \n  \n1 WIN\, 4 NOMINATIONS: \nWon – Grand Jury Award/Honourable Mention\, Outstanding U.S. Narrative Feature\, L.A.
