SUMMARY:This is Not a Movie - 2PM
DESCRIPTION:Screening:\nSaturday\, February 22\, 2020 – 2:00 pm\nUptown Theatre\, 55 Dunlop St. W.\, Barrie \n  \nCo-written and Directed by: Yung Chang\nWith: Robert Fisk\, Amira Hass\nDocumentary\, Not Rated – disturbing war-related content and images\, viewer discretion is advised\, 106 minutes\, Language: English/Arabic/English subtitles (Canada/Germany) \n  \n“Yung Chang’s documentary about British journalist Robert Fisk is complex and cinematic.” – Norman Wilner\, NOW Toronto \n  \n“It’s not just journalists\, especially print warhorses\, who will enjoy this account\, but also the others who have no idea what it takes to be a newsperson who has dedicated his or her life to the reporting of truth as they see it.” – Shubhra Gupta\, The Indian Express \n  \nFor more than 40 years\, journalist Robert Fisk has reported on some of the most violent and divisive conflicts in the world. Yung Chang’s This Is Not a Movie captures Fisk in action—feet on the ground\, notebook in hand\, as he travels into landscapes devastated by war\, ferreting out the facts and firing reports back home to reach an audience of millions. The process of translating raw experience into incisive and passionate dispatches requires the determination to see things first-hand and the tenacity to say what others won’t. In his relentless pursuit of the facts\, Fisk has attracted his share of controversy. But in spite of the danger\, he has continued to cover stories as they unfold\, talking directly to the people involved. In an era of fake news\, when journalists are dubbed “the enemies of the people\,” Fisk’s resolve to document reality has become an obsessive war to speak the truth. \n  \nAWARDS:\nNominee\, Best Canadian Feature Film\, Toronto International Film Festival\, 2019 \n  \n\n  \nTickets are available online By Clicking Here\, or at the Uptown Theatre during the festival (Feb 20-23\, 2020).
