A new documentary chronicling Jack Johnson’s evolution from surfer to filmmaker to world-renowned musician. The film traces how Johnson’s early years making surf films with close friends became a foundation for a much broader creative life, capturing moments in and out of the water that later surfaced in his songwriting. Blending rare footage from those formative surf films and Johnson’s personal and family archives with present-day reflections, the film weaves together how lived experience, friendship, and exploration shaped the sound and stories behind the music.

Directed by Emmett Malloy, featuring Jack Johnson, Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Gerry Lopez, Chris Malloy, G. Love, Ben Harper, John Florence, Emmett Malloy, Kim Johnson, and more, with a beautiful score by Jack Johnson and Hermanos Gutiérrez. In loving memory of Tamayo Perry.

Prior to the movie:

JACK JOHNSON TRIBUTE BAND with JON BRYANT, starts at 7:30 pm

Bio: Over a career spanning more than fifteen years, Jon Bryant has established himself as a master of emotional transparency. Bryant has amassed over 150 million global streams, driven by fan-favorite tracks like “Headphones,” “Light,” “Wilderness,” and “At Home.” His acclaimed discography includes landmark LPs such as Two Coasts For Comfort [2009], What Takes You [2012], Twenty Something [2017], and Cult Classic [2019], alongside celebrated EPs like Half Bad and Psychedelic Salutations. Earning praise from tastemakers such as The Line of Best Fit and Atwood Magazine, Bryant’s creative output spans beyond music into visual art and acting, with screen appearances in Riverdale, Fire Country, Tracker, and Marvel’s Sentinel of the Spaceways, as well as voicing Bitores Mendez in Capcom’s 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4. In an era dominated by algorithms and artificial polish, Bryant remains defiantly, beautifully human, crafting songs defined by grounded authenticity and raw connection.
